Located in the heart of the quaint and historic Bedford, Virginia, Carriage Hill Retirement is more than just a retirement and assisted living community. As a member of the local community, I have not heard any negative comments in regards to the assisted living portion of this facility. The parking lot is small and can be hard to navigate when full however, I have not experienced any major issues. The grounds are clean of debris on each of my visits. The location is somewhat isolated to discourage unwelcome visitors however, it is conveniently located and easy to find. The residents appear to be comfortable with staff members and appear to be well cared for in both appearance and health. The staff appear to be engaged with the residents.
There are no odors noted upon walking into the facility. The facility appears to be well kept and is generally clean in appearance. I have found the residents to be generally happy with the location and the accommodations.
As a local volunteer, I have visited Carriage Hill on numerous occasions. The nursing home facility would not receive the same rating.
